This is a very good question I am asking, if I should say so myself, especially Now. Our President, Barack Obama, won the Nobel Peace Prize. As an American and a Black man, I cannot be anything but proud, but I do have to ask the question, “Does he deserve it?” which, by the way, is asked every year about the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. This is not an article bashing Paris Hilton because I have no ill will toward her, but let’s be honest, she really hasn’t done anything earth shattering, yet she continues to receive praise. Why? What has she done to deserve all of the praise she gets? This is the same thing that many are saying today about President Barack Obama.

This is my first attempt at giving my thoughts to the world, but I am going to do my best. My task is to write this as if I were a Martian who landed on the earth and wanted to know what all the President Obama Nobel Peace Prize hubbub is about. I want to try and get the facts by reading through all of the objective journalism (the existence of objective journalism is as real as my Martian character) and listening to all forms of the fair, balanced and non-partisan media (Once again refer back to what I said about my Martian character). Now that I have done all of this we should get started.

The first point is, “Who did this guy beat out?”

Well he beat out French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, who was one of the architects of the cease fire in the Gaza strip; Ingrid Betancourt, French-Colombian ex-hostage, was a Columbia Senator that was abducted by a Marxist organization and held captive for six and a half years because of her views for a new Columbia; Denis Mukwege, Medical doctor, is the founder of the Panzi hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Here he has helped hundreds of thousands of female sexual violence victims; and finally Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition. These organizations are recognized for their consistently serious efforts to clean up cluster bombs, also known as land mines. I know what you’re saying. These people have actually done something, but according to the Kool-Aid drinking Democrats and the Nobel Foundation, so has President Barack Obama.

Yes, I said Kool-Aid Drinking Democrats. These are people who feel that no matter what the party promotes, they love it, even if it is not what they believe. No matter how condescending or ridiculous, they jump on that bandwagon and ride. Sure, they want to lower test scores to help the kids of the inner city advance, because according to that logic they are not smart enough to learn. Well if most school boards would listen to the people who want to better arm the schools with the tools they need and create more alternative schools for those that disrupt (and no I am not talking about jails), then those children that want to learn, will. I will now step off of that soapbox. Okay I’m back… According to some, the first black President has given real meaning to this term. I am going to state the obvious, but Brothas love Kool-Aid, and just as the infamous cult leader Jim Jones, Obama will have us all drinking that wonderful inexpensive grape nectar. Just like Paris Hilton, President Obama flashes that beautiful charismatic smile and gets just about whatever he wants…well not everything. He wanted the Olympics and he thought by using he velvety smooth voice, he’d get it. SORRY BROTHER, it didn’t work because while he was trying to do that thing he does where he talks people into doing whatever he asked, the IOC (International Olympic Committee) was looking at that videotape of the gang of kids in Chicago killing that young black honor student. No matter how much he “shook that money maker”, the IOC said no. The IOC was probably saying that there is no way they could go to Chicago, because if that gang killed that kid, you know what they would do to the visiting Europeans in Speedos and funny shoes. So, just like when Paris tried to shake her money maker in front of the judge and the judge sent her to jail, the IOC said no. I could get into what happened to her in jail but that would change the whole direction. The thought of what may have happened to her… Whew!…I need a glass of Kool-Aid!

Not everyone drinks Kool-Aid, but people using a different kind of mind control are gaining strength at a rapid rate throughout this land of the free. They are called Stepford Republicans. These are American Citizens that do not understand the word compromise, and no matter how wacky a situation may be, their minds are made up for them by the party. Now in the interest of fairness, I will not get into their anger at our President and their God-like worship of their platform. They live in a world where they believe we are all playing on an even playing field, while they give their own the best opportunities without earning it, but turn around and criticize those who do the exact same thing. Life is not fair, and when you wake up tomorrow, Paris Hilton will still be famous and Barack Obama will still be President of the United States… Sorry Stepfords!

There is this foolish notion that all of the accolades that the President has earned are because of Affirmative Action. I guess all of the nights studying at Harvard Law, passing the bar exam, becoming a community organizer, the Senate Race and road to the White House was all because of that bad ole’ Affirmative Action. Say what you want about this Affirmative Action, but if what you are saying about President Barack Obama is true, then this is not all about race. What do I mean by that? Well, Senator Palin jumped to the front of the line, and without her Harvard Law degree. Sorry, I mean no disrespect to the Stepfords, and Paris Hilton is still famous.

Let’s not forget that General Colin Powell could have been President a decade ago and he would be receiving these same accolades. He is a great man who was kicked-out of the Stepford community for having his own thoughts and just so you know he drinks Crystal Light. If this is not about race, why mention affirmative action if it really doesn’t matter (which I know it does)? Why can’t Colin be a black Republican and still have free will? Oh yeah, the Stepford thing. He could switch to Kool-Aid, but he wants to get rid of a lot of Government programs and that is a big no-no. Kool-Aid needs a lot of unnecessary sugar, and Government programs need lots of sugar, a.k.a the public’s tax dollars. He is a man without an Island, but the General is not the only one who could have been a recipient of the prestigious award. Many could argue that The Nobel Foundation could have given the award to US President Ronald Regan for ending the cold war. Oh, and let us not forget about William Jefferson Clinton! He raised over a billion dollars through his foundation for many Global causes. I can imagine the morning President Obama woke up and heard that he had won the Nobel Peace Prize, he probably said, “Damn, now I really have to do something!”

Speaking of doing things, a website called PolitiFact (www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter) has compiled more than 500 promises that Barack Obama made during the campaign and is tracking their progress on their Obameter. So far, according to this website, the President has kept 47 of his promises and broken 7 of the promises. He compromised on 12 of the promises and 12 of them are stalled for one reason or another. One hundred seventeen of the promises are in the works and 320 of them have not been addressed. Let me give you a few promises and the results. I am going to start with promise no. 234: Allowing five days of Public comment before signing a bill – this promise was BROKEN. Ok now for promise no. 503: Appointing at least one Republican to his cabinet – this promise was KEPT. Promise no. 505: Creating a $3000 tax credit for Companies that add jobs – this promise was BROKEN. And finally, promise no. 24 – End income tax for seniors making under $50,000 – this promise was BROKEN. People, please realize that political promises are more like a wish list rather than a real promise. The President can’t make these things happen on his own, because the Government is a machine that dances to its own tune, no matter who lives in the White House. This guy hasn’t even been in the White House for a year! I guess Affirmative Action also means if you are black, you have to move twice as fast.

One thing I had to ask myself, “Is the Nobel Peace prize now tarnished because Barack Obama won?” I am sure that a majority of the American public feels the same way as the President’s detractors felt when Martin Luther King won the award. If we are using the formula of the Barack O’Haters, I am sure that Yasser Arafat would have been left off of the list. This guy got one because he stopped killing people and with this guys record he shouldn’t have gotten one either. I know that guys like Jesse Jackson are on fire. No matter what you feel about Jesse, he has still done things that you can point to, whether you like them or not. He did put his life on the line and march with Dr. King. He also ran for President. Many feel that this award is political, but what in this world isn’t? Don’t you think that if you were in the entertainment industry as a serious actor, you would still be nice to Paris Hilton? Yes, you would. And even if you have no respect for her, because she really hasn’t done anything to deserve all of the respect she gets from Hollywood, for some odd reason, she is still relevant.

Do you know who should be the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize? I do! I know, without a doubt, who should be the winner, and if you ask me, I think President Barack Obama should hand it over. The real winner is… (pretend you can hear a drum roll) EVERY CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Yes I know that may sound hacky to you, but our country has taken two gigantic steps in the name of peace. Our country was built on “taking”. We took from the American Indians. We took from Africa with the institution of slavery. We took the Chinese to build our railroads. We took hard working Mexicans, brought them in to do all of menial jobs that most Americans do not want to do. (And please don’t let me get into the hypocrisy of the anti-immigration people. That is another blog for another time.) All of that being said, I feel that the American Public gave a chance to a Human Being who they felt was the best for the job, and those that opposed did not do what a few Americans in the past would have already done. (I will not even write it!) All American Presidents have had some form of an assassination attempts that were verbal, planned out and or attempted, so this President is no different. We accomplished real peace and we created this real change so I feel we deserve the Nobel Peace Prize

So, I am going to go back to my planet called “Real Life”, hoping that I’ve done well on my first of many attempts to give you my thoughts. I am going to join the ranks of bloggers who feel that their opinion must be heard and, most of all, that our points are important to the world. I want to leave you with one final thought that is just my opinion. I may not have a full understanding of the process that the selection committee uses for picking a Nobel Peace Prize winner, but the nominees’ accomplishments seem to be a major part. My Father, who I think is the greatest father and most forthright person in the world, unintentionally lied to me when he told me that I could be President of the United States. The good news I can truly tell my sons that for them this it is a real possibility. In my opinion President Barack Obama’s major accomplishment is that he made every father of every race, creed, religion and sexual orientation in the United States of America true to their word and that is pretty Nobel.
